Ans: A hobby is an activity done during our free or leisure time and which give us fun, pleasure or relaxation.

(b) What do hobbies give us ?

Ans: Hobbies give us fun, joy pleasure and entertainment.

(c) What is Philately ? What difficulty would you face if you take up philately ?

Ans: Philately is the collection and study of postage stamps as a kind of hobby for some persons.

The difficulty that I would face if I take up philately is that I have to be very careful while taking out the stamps from the envelopes. There is the possibility of getting torn the stamps if I am not careful.

(d) What is Irfan’s hobby ? What does he like to do ?

Ans: Irfan’s hobby is painting. He likes to sit and paint landscapes as his hobby.

(e) Name a few indoor and outdoor hobbies.

Ans: A few indoor hobbies are i. collection of stamps ii. listening to music iii. reading books iv. playing Ludo, Carrom, Chess etc.

A few outdoor hobbies are i. Gardening ii. Travelling iii. Playing badminton, Football, Cricket etc. iv. Taking photographs .

(f) what is a kitchen garden ?

Ans: A kitchen garden is a garden in which different kinds of vegetables are grown for domestic consumption.

(g) ” Every morning I water the plants and clean the beds.”- What does ‘beds’ mean here ?

Ans: ‘Beds’ here means an area or plot of ground in which plants are grown with a purpose.
